"I enjoy collaborating with clients and colleagues on creative solutions - whether those solutions involve a complex legal fix or a simple, common sense business strategy. As I develop my practice, I find open communication is essential to successful outcomes."
Sara has a great appreciation for the inherent value of land and takes pride in helping clients achieve their business goals through her multi-faceted real estate and environmental practice. Her interest in real estate transactions began prior to law school working as a real estate paralegal. Now, as an associate with the firm’s top-ranked real estate law practice group, she advises real estate developers and managers on the purchase and sale of industrial and commercial properties, commercial leasing, financing, landlord/tenant disputes, and zoning and permitting challenges. When advising clients, she aims to understand the owner’s desired property use and the unique nature of the property, in order to navigate the nuances of each real estate transaction.
Sara also maintains an active government affairs practice representing a national trade association on federal environmental policy and legislative positions, particularly with regards to the private sector restoration and mitigation industry. In this capacity, she advises on strategic federal agency and Congressional campaigns, pending legislation, and policy priorities. Her environmental clients benefit from her prior experience with the Environmental Compliance office of a U.S. Naval Air Station and as a law clerk at the U.S. Department of Justice, Environment and Natural Resources Division, where she gained a working knowledge of the diverse regulatory landscape and complex environmental statutes.

Beyond the Law
Beyond the Law
Growing up on the Chesapeake Bay, Sara developed a love and respect for nature at an early age. For her first summer job as a counselor, she led a team of young campers at Elm’s Beach in Maryland through daily environmental learning activities, from dendrology to crab catching. As an undergraduate, she learned how science and policy interact to balance conservation and industry during a marine biology intensive study on South Caicos Island. These formative and practical experiences inform Sara’s professional practice, where she is often translating intangible issues into tangible solutions and serving as a policy advocate for her clients.
Now resident in California, Sara regularly commutes to Washington, DC for work and family. In addition to exploring her new community and the many coastal coves of the West, she spends time brainstorming Seinfeld skits, wine tasting and traveling to new places whenever she can. Trips to Hong Kong, Portugal, France, England, Italy, Belgium, Czech Republic, Spain and Turkey have whet her appetite for further exploration.
