Zee is an associate within the firm’s investment management section and her practice focuses on advising institutional investors on their investments in private investment funds. 

Prior to joining Hirschler, Zee practiced as an attorney for the World Bank Legal Development Finance Practice Group where she advised internal and external clients on a spectrum of legal and policy issues concerning the formation, day-to-day affairs, and winding-up of major trust funds and financial intermediary funds, and prior to that, at the World Bank Legal Africa and MENA Regional Practice Group where she advised clients on legal issues concerning downstream financing transactions and assisted in negotiating legal agreements with government ministries.

She also served as a law clerk for the Supreme Court of Virginia.

  • Represented fund manager in the formation of a $50 million closed-end fund

  • Represented fund manager in the formation of a $50 million hedge fund

Recent institutional investor matters

  • Regularly represents institutional investors (endowments, pension plans, family offices, funds of funds) in portfolio investment activities. Representation includes negotiation of fund or separately managed account agreements and assessment of legal terms in comparison to current market ranges. Transactions generally range from $10 million to $100 million per investment.

  • Investments in real estate funds by university endowments and family offices

  • Investments in crypto funds by university endowments

  • Investments in Greater China-focused hedge funds by university endowments
