On Thursday, February 25, real estate associate Jillian Bates moderated an engaging panel discussion on diversity and inclusion as part of the VBA YLD’s Black History Month program entitled, “Black Attorneys' Experiences in the Legal Profession.” Notably, the program was one of only a handful of VBA webinars to “sell out” (in this case, to hit the max number of Zoom participants) and perhaps the first-ever VBA YLD program to sell out.
As president of the VBA YLD, Frank Cragle had the honor of introducing Jillian as moderator. Jillian, in turn, introduced a diverse group of panelists including:
- Victor Cardwell, Partner and Chairman of the Board of Directors at Woods Rogers PLC;
- Rita Davis, Chief Counsel to the Honorable Ralph S. Northam, Governor of Virginia;
- DeVon Simmons, a staff attorney at the Virginia State Crime Commission; and
- Etahjayne Harris, a litigation associate at McGuireWoods LLP.
