Hirschler Fleischer is pleased to announce the promotion of two attorneys from the firm’s real estate section. Jeffrey P. Geiger and Marshall L. Jones have been elected partners of the firm.

“Our firm is proud to be involved in real estate projects reshaping the state’s economy. Jeff and Marshall have contributed significantly to these efforts, providing clients with strategic guidance and trusted legal advice,” said Jim Weinberg, president of Hirschler Fleischer. “Their promotion is a testament to the leadership they have demonstrated with their clients, our profession and the firm.”

Jeffrey P. Geiger

Geiger’s work includes several influential projects across Virginia. Most recently, he has assisted in the rezoning efforts of the Jahnke Road residential project, a 55-acre development on an underutilized tract of land along the Jahnke Road corridor in Richmond, Va.  Now that the property has been rezoned, Geiger’s work has paved the way for a proposal to build a 252-unit apartment complex on the property’s southern edge and 125 detached single-family homes on its northern side. The hope is that this neighborhood will appeal to young professionals and attract more commercial development.

In addition, Geiger helped the Richmond Kickers Youth Soccer Club rezone, finance, acquire and develop approximately 45 acres in Chesterfield County. He also serves as real estate counsel to a major healthcare system and other national and regional development clients.

Geiger provides creativity, advocacy and strategic counsel for developers in obtaining local governmental approvals and making projects a reality. He works with clients to structure deals, negotiate contracts, obtain zoning approvals, secure financing, and lease or sell components of the project. He also advises on matters related to transportation and stormwater regulations.

In 2012, Geiger was recognized as a “Young Leader of the Year” by the Urban Land Institute’s Richmond District.  He has been recognized by his peers among Virginia Super Lawyers’ Rising Stars and Virginia Business’ “Legal Elite.”

Geiger currently serves as a board member of the Urban Land Institute’s Richmond District, and as a Legislative Committee Member of the Home Building Association of Richmond.

Geiger earned his undergraduate and law degrees from the College of William and Mary.

Marshall L. Jones

Jones works with clients in commercial leasing matters, the purchase and sale of commercial real estate, HUD insured financing for multifamily and healthcare facilities, and condominium project development.

He has assisted in the development of numerous commercial and residential condominium projects, including registration with the Common Interest Community Board and preparation of all project documents.   He has also closed numerous HUD insured loans, including 221(d)(4) construction financing.

Jones was recognized by his peers among Virginia Super Lawyers’ Rising Stars in 2011 and 2013.  Jones currently serves on the Virginia State Bar committee for Community Associations..

Jones earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia, and his law degree from the University of Kentucky.
