In honor of Women’s History Month, Law360 has launched a series of interviews with female construction lawyers in leadership positions. In the first interview of the four-part series, Courtney Paulk shares her thoughts on the construction market and her experience working in a male-dominated practice and industry.

While construction lawyers continue to field questions related to employment, and contractual protections, Paulk indicates clients are beginning to voice concern over more routine matters such as pricing and operations. With pressure to meet deadlines, contractors continue to be plagued by labor and material shortages, which can result in a failure to meet regulatory and contractual obligations. Worker misclassification remains a priority on the legislative agenda in Virginia, but it is unclear what action will be taken by the new attorney general.
