Hirschler Fleischer is pleased to announce that partner and executive vice president Michael H. Terry has been recognized among Virginia Lawyers Weekly's elite group of “Leaders in the Law” for 2017. He will be honored at an awards reception at the John Marshall Hotel in Richmond on October 26. The complete list of winners is available here.

In a distinguished career spanning more than 35 years, Terry is known for pioneering work in commercial real estate transactions and complex multimillion-dollar workouts. As a partner in Hirschler Fleischer's commercial real estate section, he counsels developers, property owners and tenants in the acquisition, development, financing and leasing of income-producing property and raw land for office complexes, corporate headquarters, planned unit developments and retail projects.

Terry has played a central role in high-profile transactions and real estate development projects across the Commonwealth. In Richmond, he led the construction loan financing (and subsequent modifications) of Riverfront Plaza; served as owner’s counsel in the structuring of the Gateway Plaza project; and represented SunTrust Bank, the lead agent in construction loan financing for the MeadWestvaco Building. Beyond the capital, Terry assisted the Fairfax County government with the development and leasing of office buildings at Fairfax Government Center and provides general real estate and finance counsel for ARCAP, LC, a large manufactured home community (MHC) investor operator with offices in Tidewater.

Joining Hirschler Fleischer in 1982, Terry was appointed to the firm's board of directors in 1995, and is past chairman of the real estate section. In 2002, he was named executive vice president. In that role today, he is responsible for financial and strategic planning of the 80-lawyer, three-office firm.

Virginia Lawyers Weekly provides insight on current cases and legal news throughout the state. The publication annually recognizes Leaders in the Law who are improving Virginia’s justice system. Winners are those who set the standard for their peers and have significant accomplishments through their practices, the Virginia legal community and the community at large.
