Overview

Marieke’s practice focuses on commercial real estate and business transactions. She has deep experience in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating leases, purchase and sale agreements, easement agreements, title and survey. Marieke also has extensive knowledge pertaining to solar development transactions.

Marieke has deep experience in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating leases, purchase and sale agreements, easement agreements, and reviewing real estate due diligence. Her commercial real estate practice focuses on representing developers and builders in creating and reviewing planned unit developments, mixed-use projects, community associations, and commercial or residential condominium developments.

Additionally, Marieke has experience in representing solar developers and lenders in the real estate aspects of developing solar facility projects in Virginia and beyond.

Assisted a client involved in a public-private collaboration, leading to the development of the country's first mixed-used project consisting of residential housing (64 housing units) and a LEED certified fire station.

Advised a developer on the redevelopment of the largest homeless shelter in Northern Virginia.

Advised a corporate client responsible for the administration of a 300-acre mixed-use development in Northern Virginia, relating to the conveyance and development of a 30-acre parcel for the operation of a veterans care facility, the fourth such facility in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Advised an education-focused non-profit on the acquisition of property in rural Virginia to serve as a development space for their membership.

Marieke lives outside of Richmond with her husband, Peter, and son along with their energetic goldendoodle and elderly cat. Outside of the office, Marieke enjoys reading, going to the farmer’s market, and keeping up with all things pop culture related.
