In an article posted in Richmond BizSense on August 3, 2022, Hirschler land use partner Jeff Geiger confirms plans for a seven-story apartment project on West Broad Street, east of Richmond’s Willow Lawn.

Though still in early stages of planning, the project is anticipated to include 150 apartments and ground-floor commercial space fronting West Broad. The new complex will replace the nearly 60-year-old office buildings currently on site.

To permit the construction of the project, Jeff and Hirschler associate Jillian Bates commenced work with city staff and neighbors to secure a special-use permit to allow a taller building and set the building back from West Broad to create wider sidewalks. These requests are in keeping with the city’s desired redevelopment along West Broad Street, West of I-195.

Hirschler partner Kristen Burgers handled the ground lease for the site to allow for construction financing after the permitting is completed and eventual agency debt once the project stabilizes.
