Update: Tax Relief Announced for City of Richmond

As an update to our earlier alert regarding real estate tax relief in Henrico and Goochland Counties, the City of Richmond is giving residents and landowners COVID-related relief on both real property and personal property taxes due this June. At its meeting on May 11, 2020, Richmond City Council passed an ordinance providing an amnesty for property tax payments due June 5, 2020, with no penalties or interest being assessed on late payments so long as they are received by August 14, 2020.

We will continue to monitor other localities in the greater Richmond area for similar measures.
