In Chambers’ editorial comments about the firm, clients shared insight on Hirschler’s Commercial Litigation practice, saying "They have produced the results we’ve gone after, and are very easy to work with.” Individually, clients interviewed noted that Tysons office Managing Partner Wayne G. Travell, is a “seasoned disputes litigator” and is “able to quickly assess scenarios and adjust strategy to steer toward the desired outcome. Partner Robert R. Vieth was also commended for his representation of clients in high-stakes commercial disputes, including in real estate, corporate transactions, corporate governance, trade secrets and class action claims. Another client complimented John R. Walk, partner, as “very engaging and extremely knowledgeable,” in describing his approach to litigation.

Hirschler’s Corporate M&A practice is also recognized for its broad, midmarket-focused practice and strengths in investment management for institutional investors, mergers and acquisitions and ancillary areas like tax, franchising and estate planning. “The team has the ability to see the market perspective, which we benefit from. The lawyers are incredibly responsive and make us feel like we are a very important client of theirs,” said one client. Another described the M&A lawyers as “really trusted advisers to us.” The client continued, “We trust their guidance and advice. They are phenomenal.” A third respondent added “They really do put their clients first and put themselves in their clients’ shoes.” Praised for their individual contributions, clients commented on investment management attorneys like S. Brian Farmer whose clients described him as “great to work with and very responsive to my inquiries.” Farmer’s client also shared, “He’s a hard-working person who genuinely cares about his clients and our concerns.” M&A partner Lisa J. Hedrick was also described as “tough but fair, smart and very efficient in getting to the bottom of things.” One client called Executive Vice President Andrew M. Lohmann a “go-to adviser for us,” adding “He is incredibly hard-working and dedicated. He’s also very easy to work with, pragmatic and flexible.” Describing Alina A. Savage, honored among Chamber’s Associates to Watch, one client said she is “extraordinarily intelligent, has wonderful drafting experience and is a superstar.”

Chambers praises Hirschler’s Bankruptcy / Restructuring practice as “one of the top bankruptcy practices in Virginia” and “a leading firm for midmarket bankruptcies in the state and well-suited to serving as local counsel on larger cases.” The practice is noted for its creditors’ rights work and representation of debtors when handling Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 matters, as well as out-of-court restructuring, bankruptcy litigation and Section 363 asset sales. One client said, “The team is doing a great job and is very good at keeping me informed and discussing cases and options.” Partner Lawrence A. Katz received praise for his broad bankruptcy practice and experience acting as a Chapter 11 trustee. Stephen E. Leach, partner, is also commended by peers as “a highly respected and very prominent practitioner in Northern Virginia.” One client added, “He’s terrific. He’s a lawyer’s lawyer, who’s very cerebral, very confident and effective in court.”

Hirschler’s Real Estate practice is also lauded by Chambers for its involvement in many of Virginia’s most significant real estate developments, transactions and financings. The practice is featured as a top-rated firm by Chambers since 2003 with strength in development, transactional, land use and zoning matters for developments in the mixed-use, retail, office, multifamily and hotels sectors.
